Save Darfur Coalition

The Save Darfur Coalition is a U.S.-based advocacy group calling for international intervention in the Darfur conflict in the Eastern African state of Sudan. It is a coalition of more than 180 religious, political, and human rights organizations designed to campaign for a response to alleged atrocities in the three Sudanese federal states that make up the region of Darfur.

All the money raised from the run will go to the Save Darfur Coalition. We donate all profits directly to them and will cover our overhead ourselves or with the minimum neccessary amount of money from the actual donations.

A group of high school students dedicated to helping end the genocide in Darfur. We organized a run last year to raise money and awareness and because of its success are having another, bigger run in 2009.

Here’s how this started:
Last year we were assigned a philanthropic project by our CAP sophomore teachers. We decided to organize a run for those suffering from the genocide in Darfur and raised money through registrating mostly people we knew, teachers, and people in the area. The run was succesful, and we raised more money than we had expected, and although the project is over, we have decided to do the run again this year, only bigger, and without all of the work that was supposed to go into a documentary etc. that got in the way last year. So we’re all excited to be doing this on our own, and hope that even more people will show up in april 2009!!!!
